Double click on the VPSS IP to open its configuration GUI. The recommended setting in this case is YUV422 video, at 10-bit, for both SDR and HDR. Turning the setting unchecked "Allow YCC 4:2:2" and opening game the colours look not as patchy and onkyo is showing YCbCr420 30 bit. Color cameras are equipped with a Bayer color filter and can output color images based on Bayer pixel formats.
Human eyes have higher resolution for luminance vs color, so less bandwidth on color is an easy way to save space.
The 4:2:2 signal will have half the sampling rate horizontally, but will maintain full. HOWEVER if I set it to 2160RGB and I play an HDR game it converts to 2160YUV422.
